SoundPro Cares

SoundPro believes in making our communities better and taking care of our neighbors. We participate in community outreach programs to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, friends, and customers. From writing letters to veterans on Veterans Day to buying Christmas gifts for families in need, it truly is a team effort at SoundPro.

The Jeff Humphrey Technical Scholarship

In 2010, SoundPro established an annual scholarship for a student pursuing a technical degree in the audiovisual space. The scholarship was renamed in 2020 to honor the memory of SoundPro’s Executive Vice President, Jeff Humphrey.

Jeff was a loving father, avid music lover, Navy Veteran, and an A1 technician. Jeff had the opportunity to mix audio for some of the biggest names in the music industry during his career. He also started a custom case company, ran multiple tours for the Dixie Chicks, and eventually joined SoundPro in the ’90s. Jeff was constantly advocating for education and was integral in the ideation, creation, and running of the SoundPro Experience center. The Experience Center has hosted hundreds of events and welcomed over ten thousand guests in the last 7 years.

It is our honor to name the SoundPro scholarship after Jeff Humphrey.

Cut for a Cause

SoundPro concluded our very first “Cut for a Cause” fundraiser in 2021, with over $10,000 raised for the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express!

The Snowball Express program serves the families of fallen military heroes so they can build memories in a stress-free, enriching community. Each December, Snowball Express brings together over 1,750 children and their surviving parent/guardian for a five-day retreat. In previous retreats, children created different productions in honor of the parent they lost - singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, and more. SoundPro participated by providing backline rental sound equipment for these productions free of charge.

As the Snowball Express event no longer needs sound equipment, we wanted to continue our support of this incredible program through a financial contribution in 2021. Our goal was to raise $100 for every year we’ve has been in business, rounding up for a total of $5,000. As a fun incentive for this campaign, SoundPro CEO Joshua Curlett pledged to match the funds raised, as well as to shave his head once our goal was reached. We exceeded our goal, Joshua matched and shaved, with over $10,000 going to the cause! Donations are still being accepted on the SoundPro “Cut for a Cause” Gary Sinise Foundation fundraising page.

Celebrating Earth

Since 2019, Sound Productions has partnered with Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB). This nonprofit government division is dedicated to educating the local community about reducing litter, increasing recycling, and general beautification of this wonderful city. SoundPro typically observes Earth Day by picking up trash in a local park or other high traffic area as part of our core value of Building a Better Future.

Letter Writing for Veterans Day

SoundPro is committed to showing our support and profound appreciation for the heroes who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms. Writing letters to veterans on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day is just one way we express our respect and gratitude.

For the past three years, SoundPro has worked with Heartillery Group. With the help of schools, religious organizations, seniors, corporations, businesses, and other veterans’ organizations throughout the community, Heartillery Group collects, assembles, and mails cards, letters, and care packages to United States service members across the globe. Since its inception in 2013, this worldwide initiative has delivered over 5 million cards and 10,000 care packages to soldiers and other military personnel.

For 2021, SoundPro changed things up by assembling a care package, which was sent via Operation American Soldier.

Holiday Gift Giving: Angel Tree

For years, SoundPro has partnered with charities that strive to make the holiday season special. Since 2019, we’ve been honored to participate with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which reaches out to families in need by offering Christmas gifts to children ages 14 and under as well as adults with special needs. Coordinating with local social services and schools, Salvation Army identifies individuals and families in need and compiles a wish list of gifts; these requests are “adopted” by generous donors who return them to Angel Tree locations for the family to pick up before Christmas Day.

Children’s Hunger Fund

“More than ten percent of the world population lives in extreme poverty (less than $1.90 per day),” according to Children’s Hunger Fund. Established in 1991, CHF is a gospel-centered ministry that works with churches throughout the world to deliver food and meet the physical and spiritual needs of their communities. CHF coordinates with generous donors, corporate partners, and local volunteers to collect, pack, and distribute non-perishable food to the homes of children and their families, while their delivery volunteers foster strong relationships that offer hope to the hungry. SoundPro has donated 15,000 meals since the beginning of the pandemic in 2019.
