Creative Solutions: Bringing the Harrison County Courthouse Bell Tower Back to Life
May 1st 2025
Sometimes a project doesn’t just resolve your problem; it creates avenues for additional improvements.
Jon Wootten of Wootten Audio Visual was contacted by the construction team working on the Harrison County Courthouse in Marshall, TX, to “replace” the bell in their bell tower. It had been years since it had tolled, and there was interest in bringing a little taste of the past back to the historic site.
So, Jon called his SoundPro Account Manager, Brian McDonough, to talk about a digital solution.
Brian got right to work putting a package together. Using the bell scheduler feature of the Atlas Atmosphere AZM4, Brian pieced together a full install recommendation, including four Community R.5 speakers and an LEA Connect 704 amplifier.
However, Brian had an additional suggestion: an Atlas X-ZPS Atmosphere Zone Paging Station, which would enable both paging and music to run through the speaker system. Jon relayed that to the people at Harrison County.
They loved the idea. So Jon bought the gear and brought the idea to life.
Now that it’s installed, they can do much more than sound the bell. They can make announcements, issue emergency weather warnings, even play holiday music for their annual Wonderland of Lights celebration at Christmastime.
At SoundPro, your project is our passion. Just as Brian collaborated with Jon at Wootten Audio Visual on his project, let one of our Account Managers help you with yours. Give us a call, send us an email, or put a quotation request together on our website today!
