When it comes to achieving a professional polish to a mobile project, the Scarlett 18i8 makes it easy to mic up the entire band. It includes 4 mic/line inputs—two of which you can use as instrument inputs—as well as 4 fixed line-ins. As for outputs, the Scarlet 18i8 comes with 4 balanced line outputs and speaker switching. Two independent headphone outs are also available for monitoring, mixing, and playing back. Alternatively, you can use the interface’s dual ADAT optical In and Out ports to further expand your recording and mixing capabilities by adding up to eight more inputs and outputs (at 48kHz or 96kHz) via a mic pre such as Scarlett OctoPre or Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic, or four channels at 192kHz. The result is more than enough channels to mic up a entire drum kit. (Note that all external gear is sold separately.)
The Scarlett 18i8 comes with built-in Focusrite Control, a functionality that makes it easy to route your audio and cue mix, loopback, and monitor mixes. All these tasks are streamlined through your Mac®, PC, iPad®, iPhone®, or iPod touch® (not included).
