The C414 XLII Condenser Microphone from AKG is a large-condenser microphone that’s a great choice for capturing subtle nuances and crystal clarity in vocals and instruments. Built with your audio needs in mind, the C414 XLII is the result of years of listening to feedback from sound engineers. Taking cues from the previous models, the C414 is designed to be the ideal tool for recording studios and live sound applications.

Designed as the successor of AKG’s famous C414 B-TL II mic, the C414’s also sonic signature combines a slight presence boost and an impressive spatial reproduction that’s reminiscent of AKG’s legendary C12 microphone from 1953, which enables lead vocals and solo instruments to be placed even in a dense mix.

C414 XLII offers 9 pickup patterns that enable it to choose the perfect setting for every application. The unrivaled up-front sound is also well known for distant miking applications like classical music recording or drum ambiance miking. All controls can be easily disabled to minimize complications during live sound use, and the peak hold LED displays even the shortest overload peaks. This mic has 3 switchable bass-cut filters as well as 3 pre-attenuation levels.

Built with high-quality components and packed with features, the C414 XLII is rugged enough to withstand long-term use while delivering consistent, quality performance. Its electronic circuitry has been redesigned for a completely linear transfer of all electrical parameters’ characteristics. A combination of extremely low self-noise and heightened headroom results in a dynamic range of about 134 dB (A-weighted).
