Both Yamaha MODX models and Montage use the same sound engine technology. Advanced wave memory (AWM2) sample and synthesis engine creates stunning emulation of acoustic instruments, synth sounds, and drums. Frequency modulation (FM-X) is a highly programmable synthesis technology for dynamic performances of electro-modern style music.

Exercise a high level of control over your sound with Montage Motion Control. Real time expression and automation provides extensive control sources and destinations from super knob, motion SEQ, and envelope follower. The super knob acts as a macro control for assignable knobs, so you can greatly change sound with one movement. Create step-based control sequences with the Motion Sequencer for automated rhythmic or tempo-based sound control. The Envelope Follower converts audio input into a control output so it can control other parameters.

Many effects let you bring a high level of creativity and sophistication to your performance. Direct Control Assignment gives the flexibility to assign controls from one button. Get a modern EDM sound from effects like beat repeat, vinyl break or beat crusher, or use vintage effects like analog delay, VCM phaser, and amp simulators for a retro sound. Simulate a realistic piano feel with damper resonance and HD reverb effects. Seamless Sound Switching is an excellent performance feature, allowing smooth performance changes without cutting off envelope or effects. Register a selected performance to the Live Set function to easily organize and access sounds for live gigs.

The power inside the Montage 7 is enhanced with external connection options. One USB cable lets you connect the Montage synth to a DAW, giving the power to send 16 and receive 3 channels of STEREO 24 bit/44.1 kHz digital audio to and from the DAW. Full MIDI support of 16 channels is part of the USB connection. Montage DSP can process external audio sources via A/D input. Connect microphones, guitars, or other line sources as an input and process it with internal effects. A more flexible and streamlined workflow gives you more options for integrating the synthesizer into your workflow, organizing onboard content, and more. Powerful and clear internal content is produced from the pure analog circuit.
