The Fresnel light has a fascinating backstory that predates the invention of the incandescent lamp. French engineer Augustin-Jean Fresnel originally developed what became known as the Fresnel Lamp as a solution for lighthouses that needed to magnify and focus their light sources. Modern Fresnel lights put this lens design to work in myriad ways to achieve powerful, versatile illumination.
A chief characteristic of a Fresnel is its ability to focus: its lens is positioned in front of the light bulb and can be pivoted to narrow or expand the beam of light that the fixture emits. While traditional Fresnels tend to be extremely hot, more recent developments have designed models with cooler operating temperatures.
Fresnels deliver rich, accurate color rendition, natural skin tones, and optimal brightness.
